Digital Literacy resources and training are a key component to bridging digital equity gaps in our communities. We’re committed to helping families reach their goals by information and support in Chinese and English. As part of the Chicago Connected Guiding Team, we meet to discuss, analyze and curate resources tailored to meet the needs of Chicago Connected families. You can see our past offerings and future plans below.

Every month we offer a digital literacy class for CPS parents and the members of the general public who want to learn. For each of our courses, the materials and recordings will be posted on this page afterward.

The Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community is a proud community partner for Chicago Connected. This ground-breaking new program provides Chicago Public Schools students with high-quality and reliable internet service at home at no cost to eligible families. There are no additional subscription fees or installation charges. Any past debt to a service provider does not disqualify eligibility for this program. Any student that qualifies for free and reduced meals is automatically eligible for Chicago Connected.

This program grows and improves thanks to feedback and participation from parents. Thanks to their generous input, Chicago Connected families currently receive internet service speeds of 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. 

As an immigrant organization, we recognize that digital literacy and language accessibility all go hand in hand. Both of these are essential to ensuring that our community gets has access to resources. That is why we are committed to helping families in the Armour square area acquire the tools, materials, and support needed to build up their digital literacy skills. Since June of 2020, our organization has been working with Chinese-speaking families to sign up for this program. We’ve made hundreds of calls and texts to notify families of their eligibility and answer any questions they have about this program.
