Our work
As a coalition of member organizations and individuals, CBCAC carries out its mission through civic education, issue advocacy, communication with policy makers, and community mobilization.
Civic Education
Our goal is to amplify our community’s voices through civic engagement. We have registered thousands of new voters since 2008 and helped voters navigate through language and cultural barriers to cast their votes.
Civic Leadership
For us, developing the next generation of leaders means building youth power, voice, and community. Our Origins program is a youth-led program that empowers Asian American youth in Chicago to lead each other in creating positive change by learning about our identity, building leadership skills, and engaging in our communities.
Neighborhood Outreach
Connecting to our community is necessary to support each other and become stronger. We have phone banked to provide COVID-19 support, and provided Emergency Rental Application Assistance, and other services. Currently, we offer Digital Literacy programs and drop-in assistance.
Community Planning
CBCAC works towards a sustainable future by leading Chinatown’s urban planning and development, building on the framework developed in our award-winning Chinatown Community Vision Plan. Through small business support, creative placemaking, wayfinding, pedestrian and biker mobility and safety plans, beautification, and more, we ensure our vibrant neighborhood thrives.
